Double earthquakes, magnitude 6.0 and 5.9, hit Klamath Falls on Monday, Sept. 20, 1993, when Steve Eberlein was a high school sophomore in the southern Oregon city. “That was a wake-up experience,” he says. “My geography teacher had said the day before that we didn’t have earthquakes in Oregon.”

MILWAUKIE — Emily McCoy, a La Salle Prep junior, has been named to participate in the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps International Exchange Program. One of only nine cadets selected, she will be heading to Vancouver, British Columbia, to work alongside cadets from around the world. Cadets will be trained in small boat operations, sailing, firearms, shipboard and military drills. They will also travel around British Columbia for social and cultural activities.
