Louis Casale

MILWUAKIE — Louis Francis Casale, a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Church, died Jan. 14. He was 89.

Mr. Casale was born Jan. 24, 1924, Southington, Conn., to Anna Marie and Pasquale Casale. After attending Lewis High School, he enrolled at Fork Union Military Academy. From there, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and began his World War II service. Following an honorable discharge, he settled in Philadelphia, Pa., to attend Bessie V. Hick's School of Dramatic Arts.  He married Beulah Clarke in 1952.

He taught ballroom dance classes and performed on stage. The couple moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a managing director for a dance studio. He earned a bachelor’s degree in theater from UCLA, and taught drama at Santa Monica City College. He earned a real estate license in 1959.

In 1964, he and Beulah moved their family to Portland, where he became a broker and founded Milwaukie Realty in 1967.  He continued to work in the real estate business for more than 30 years. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beulah (Bunny); children, Cindy (Patrick McDougall), John (Jill), Maria (Christopher Hanulik) and Elizabeth; sister Carmel (Frank Santy); eight grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21, preceded by a rosary at 10:30 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church in Milwaukie. Memorial donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association or St. John Baptist Church.
