TUALATIN — Resurrection Church members purchased nearly 200 shirts in support of Dina Snook, a parishioner battling non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Community members showed up in droves Feb. 3 wearing purple shirts and sweatshirts emblazoned with the words, “Fight like a girl!” Nearly 100 parishioners received anointing of the sick with Snook.
Snook was diagnosed with diffuse large B cell cancer in September, and began chemotherapy in November. Scans in the fall show great improvement, but she continues to fight the disease.
At the conclusion of the Mass, Father Bill Moisant, Deacon John Marshall and two altar servers removed their vestments and albs to show off their purple “Team Dina” shirts underneath. The congregation erupted into applause.
“It was a moving and wonderful experience for Dina as well as us as a parish family,” Nellie Villanueva said.
Snook and her family have been Resurrection parishioners for more than 13 years. She married Jamie at Resurrection in 1999. The couple has three children, Ellie, Lily and Jalen, all baptized at Resurrection.
