A Sister of St. Joseph of Peace who has served at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene and Springfield for 42 years celebrated her golden jubilee June 8.
Sister Aileen Trainor, a native of Nelson, B.C., received a bachelor’s degree in English and history at Notre Dame College in Nelson, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Seattle University. She began her nursing career in Canada.
She has worked in almost every unit, but spent the longest time in urology, as a charge nurse and nurse manager. For the last 26 years, she’s worked in risk management as a patient liaison.
Sister Aileen has also served on the governing board of Sacred Heart, and currently serves on the governing boards of PeaceHealth Peace Harbor Medical Center in Florence, and PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Longview, Wash.
“Fifty years ago I was given the profound gift of a vocation in joining the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace,” Sister Aileen said. “Our Sisters’ influence of joy and service has carried me through these years. I have a profound sense of gratitude. God has truly done for me what I could never have done for myself.”
