To the Catholic Sentinel:

In Matthew, 14:11-14:21, Jesus multiplied the fish and loaves to feed the 5,000. Why didn’t he begin with empty baskets? There were people who caught the fish, who planted and harvested the wheat, who baked the bread, and who bought and donated the original fish and loaves. To me that says several things: Jesus wants us to work and to be generous with our earnings but it also speaks loudly toward supply and demand and free will.

There was a small supply and a large demand. Jesus didn’t redistribute the fish and bread. He worked to multiply them. Regulation has fettered and taxed us beyond reasonable proportion and true representation, and is destroying the virtues of compassion and generosity, which can only come through a free will. Has the world already forgotten the hard work of blessed Pope John Paul against communism?
