To the Catholic Sentinel:

A December Sentinel article revealed our archdiocesan schools are adopting some of the Common Core education standards.  The parochial school system has been the standard of learning across all cultures and for all free people. So why should Catholic schools consider adopting the untested and inferior when they could rediscover our shared heritage of true academic excellence?

The Gates Foundation gave $100,000 to the National Catholic Education Association, yet even the nation’s largest teachers’ union opposes it. Catholic parents should not be expected to tuition when their schools only “honor our Catholicity” and become indistinguisable from not-so-free public schools.
