A group of 18 University of Portland students spent their last week of winter break in downtown Portland learning about local urban issues and public policies affecting the homeless population. The students, who stayed at St. André Bessette Church, were divided into groups and volunteered at local organizations including Blanchet House, Portland Rescue Mission, Community Transitional School, L'Arche Portland, and Julia West House. The plunge has occurred every winter since 1986.
