Tickets for best-selling author Michael Pollan’s lecture at the University of Portland at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 16 are on sale.

Tickets are free for students of any college or university and cost $20 or $25 for others. They are available at TicketMaster.com.

Pollan’s lecture will be the keynote address to Food for Thought, a three-day conference on food issues. The conference will feature both national and local leaders, including Kevin Concannon, Undersecretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services for the United States Department of Agriculture, and University of Portland alumnus Fedele Bauccio, founder and owner of Bon Appétit Management Co. Topics include nutrition, genetic modification, justice and sustainability.

Pollan is the author of four New York Times bestsellers – Food Rules (2010), In Defense of Food (2008), The Omnivore’s Dilemma (2006) and The Botany of Desire (2001).

He was named to the 2010 TIME 100, the magazine’s annual list of the world’s 100 most influential people.
