St. Mary’s Academy has been named the 2013-’14 Oregon School Activities Association Sportsmanship Award winner in the 6A classification. The award is presented to schools based on exemplary behavior by the students, coaches, administrators, fans, parents and the community.

“St. Mary’s Academy encourages teamwork, leadership and camaraderie on and off the playing fields,” says Kelli Clark, St. Mary's Academy principal. “It is an honor to be recognized by the OSAA for embracing these values.”

Anna Maria Lopez, St. Mary’s Academy athletic director, says people at the girls school view athletics as an extension of the classroom, “where students learn the values of hard work, commitment and teamwork.”

The recognition comes with $1,000 for the school.

St. Mary’s Academy should be very proud of being recognized in this way,” says Marci McGillivray, associate director of the OSAA.
