Students from Regis and Stayton rehearse 'Back to the 80s'
STAYTON — In March, Regis High School drama students will present “Back to the
80's . . .  the Totally Awesome Musical,” a comic journey back in time when Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were cool and Atari was the cutting edge of technology.

The cast will perform at the Regis Student Center at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10 and at 7 p.m. March 9, 14, 15 and 16.

"Back to the 80’s” tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High
School, seen through the eyes of Corey Palmer (Matthew Caudel) who is now 30-something. The 17-year-old Corey is madly in love with his next door neighbor Tiffany Houston, (Hannah VanCauteren), who is one of the coolest girls in school. However, she barely notices him and is too busy wooing over athlete Michael Feldman, (Josh Dol). Meanwhile, Feargal McFerrin III, (Ryan Mumey), whose best friend is his computer, believes the crazy notion that one day CDs will replace cassette tapes.

“I directed ‘Back to the 80's’ before and I knew it was the right show for these energetic students," says Anna Boedigheimer, Regis drama teacher. "It's a big production and they have made incredible progress with their characters, singing and dancing. It is entertaining to watch them; this is why I love my job.”

Diane Allen-Jackson, Stayton High School choir director, serves as vocal director and Emily Eikelberry as choreographer in the joint production. The cast includes 25 students from Regis, six from Stayton High, two home-schooled students and one Regis staff member.

Tickets are available at Regis High School. Tickets may also be available at the door if not already sold out. Tickets are $8 for adults; $6 for youths 7 to 18; and free for 6 and under. For more information, visit or call 503-769-2159.
