FOREST GROVE — Donna Sepull-Vanderzanden captured a sweet moment on film.
While Sepull-Vanderzanden interviewed Scott and Lisa Stewart for a parish bulletin article, their children were invited to go outside and play in the yard.

Sepull-Vanderzanden was gazing out her window as the four children, Gabriel, Samuel, Sienna and Eric, happened upon a garden statue of the Virgin Mary, constructed by her husband, Ralph Vanderzanden.

“Stopping dead in their tracks they knelt down in the dirt and prayed, as the youngest tried to join in from behind,” Donna said. “I quickly snatched my camera and took what I thought was a picture precious to the eyes of Mary. Then I immediately thought of other pictures with young visionaries around Mary, and my heart melted.”

Donna and Ralph are parishioners at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Verboort, as are the Stewarts and their children.
