University of Portland has announced the creation of the Franz Center for Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The center, named for long-time benefactors Elsie Franz Finley and regent Robert W. Franz, expands the university’s Center for Entrepreneurship. The Franz Center will support students in the development of skills, knowledge, and mindsets.

“The Franz Center involves all aspects of the University,” said Robin Anderson, executive director. “The leadership, entrepreneurship and innovation programs are about everything from business to social innovation while addressing issues of human concern through both non-profit and for-profit ventures.”

The Entrepreneurship program combines experiential-learning opportunities with a values-based education that emphasizes integrity, opportunity recognition, risk-taking and hard work. It will facilitate connections among students, alumni, faculty and industry practitioners that enable powerful collaboration and real-world results.
