Catholic Charities El Programa Hispano will host a college fair for Latino youth and their families from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, at Floyd Light Middle School, 10800 SE Washington St. in Portland.

This is the second year for the event, which strives to make higher education more accessible for Latino students in Oregon. Parents will have an opportunity to meet representatives from public, private and community colleges and participate in workshops about financial aid and scholarships.

“Our mission coincides with a lot of colleges' goals of increasing the enrollment of minority students and help them realize their dreams of continuing their education,” said Evelyn Salazar, who coordinates higher education and mentoring for Catholic Charities. “The event is a really nice one-stop-shop where students and their families can compare what several schools have to offer and get information on how they can afford it at the same time.”

Childcare will be provided on site. Registration is required prior to attending the event. Contact Evelyn Salazar at 503-489-6833 or [email protected]
