Blanchet Catholic School has received a $50,000 matching grant for instructional technology from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. This is the first time Blanchet has applied for and received grant funds from the Vancouver, Wash. philanthropic group.

"Our proposed technology initiatives will greatly enhance our already strong college preparatory program,” says Charles Lee, Blanchet president.

The Murdock grant and the additional $50,000 the school must raise in matching funds will be used to purchase software for the music department, equipment to outfit a digital media lab, 50 iPads, and upgrades for bandwidth, wireless router  and server. Also on the list are a sound system and audio-visual gear.

In addition to upgrading technology, the fund campaign is providing for tuition aid, curriculum improvements and building construction and renovation. To date, the campaign has raised $3.6 million towards its $4.2 million goal. The school has constructed a 10,600-square-foot student center.
