SALEM — Blanchet Catholic School has received a $1.1 million gift for its endowment. Given by an anonymous donor, it's the largest endowment contribution received in school history.

"It will help ensure that a Blanchet Catholic education will be available for many future generations of Mid Valley students," said Charles Lee, the school's president.

Earnings from investing the gift will provide scholarships for students who would otherwise not be able to afford Blanchet.

Lee says the donor was touched by the school's success at preparing students for college and life beyond.

Blanchet opened in 1995 and now has 360 students in grades 6-12. The school recently funded and built a $2.2 million student center, which serves as a cafeteria and gathering area and includes a commercial kitchen and athletic locker rooms.
