ROY — This is a very accomplished graduating class here at St. Francis. We’ve learned a lot from our excellent teacher Mary VanLom and have been able to work at our own pace in mathematics where most of us are in Algebra 1 — ninth grade math. We’ve participated in events like the science fair and practiced speaking in the speech tournament.

Many eighth graders have taken a role of leadership in student council, where students can contribute to our school as officers and make recommendations for fundraisers. The eighth grade class hosted an all-school movie for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. From the movie we earned about $200.

Every Friday, we participate in Mass and once a month we write intentions, are the readers, and serve as altar servers. We have also been able to enjoy different field trips. We went to the courthouse to gain an understanding of the relationship between the Bill of Rights of the Constitution and the justice system. We witnessed several cases and learned about the justice system. We also had an eighth grade Mass at the Cathedral with Archbishop John Vlazny. This class was prepared well and is looking forward to graduation.

Graduation will be held at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, June 9, at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
