Wanda Hein, who was active in the Young Ladies Institute through St. John the Baptist Church for more than 25 years, died Feb. 9. She was 82.

Mrs. Hein was born Sept. 8, 1930, in Albany. She grew up on a farm on the Santiam River. She attended Oregon State University, and then married George Hein in Albany in 1952. She was a cord-board operator for Pacific NW Bell. The family moved to Milwaukie, where she was a homemaker and worked as a kindergarten teacher and for Product Development Corporation. She and her husband moved to Rose Villa in 2000.

She was preceded in death by her husband George in 2007, and a grandson. She is survived by daughters, Monica Weitzel, Rosalyn Hein and Sally Regier (John); and three grandchildren.

A memorial celebration will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at Rose Villa Senior Retirement Community in Milwaukie. Memorial donations can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Parkinson's Foundation, or Rose Villa Foundation.
