Holy Names Sister Jeanne Concannon (Sister Benedicta Mary) died July 7. She was 86.

Born April 24, 1927, Sister Jeanne was raised in Seattle and attended St. George School and Holy Names Academy. She earned a master’s degree in English from Marquette University and a doctorate in American literature from the University of Minnesota.

Her teaching assignments ranged from St. Mary School in Medford, St. Francis in Eugene, and St. Mary’s Academy in Portland in her early years to Fort Wright College in Spokane, Wash., where she spent almost two decades.  Following the closure of the college in 1982, she taught for several years at Wadhams Hall Seminary in upstate New York and then, finally, at Mt. Angel Seminary.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Rita and Charlie. Sister Jeanne is survived by a brother, Francis (Arlene); 10 nieces and nephews; and great- and great-great nieces and -nephews.
