Sister Shirley Kelly died July 25. She was 87.

Born Nov. 23, 1924, in Belle Plaine, Minn., Sister Shirley moved to Portland with her family in 1944. She entered the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Victory in 1945 and made her professional of religious vows in 1948. She spent 1983-’92 doing catechetical work in Bolivia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Frances O’Neill and John Kelly, and by her sisters, Kathryn Rieber, Mary Teresa Ryan, Margaret Kelly, Clare Kelly; and her only brother, Neil Kelly.

She is survived by her sisters, Constance Manning and Rose Scherzinger; 32 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Rose Church. Memorial donations can be made to the Oregon Right to Life.
