Holy Child Sister Roberta Dougherty died April 13. She was 98.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Sister Roberta graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic Girls High School and entered the Convent of the Sisters of the Holy Child in 1933. Sister Roberta held a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in library science, both from Villanova University. Sister Roberta lived and served in the Philadelphia area for more than 40 years, but also taught at St. Rose School in Portland from 1954-’59, served as librarian at LaSalle High School in Milwaukie from 1976-‘79, and was director of religious education at Resurrection Parish in Tualatin from 1987-’88. She retired in 2001.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Rosemont, Pa. Memorial donations can be made to the SHCJ Retirement Fund, 1341 Montgomery Avenue, Rosemont, PA 19010.
