Shirley Ann Harris died May 19. She was 77.

Mrs. Harris was born July 10, 1935, in Verboort, to Wilfred and Marion (Williamson) VanderZanden. She was raised on the family farm in Roy, and attended St Francis of Assisi Grade School and Banks High School.

She married Larry Murphy in 1953, and they lived in Roy. They divorced in 1956, and she moved to Tillamook.

In 1978 she married Leon Harris in Portland. He died in 1981. In 1985, she moved to Troutdale, and then Forest Grove in 2010. She worked as a waitress and bartender, as well as working at for Fred Meyer for more than 10 years. She was employed by Gerber Knives in production, and finished her career at Walmart.

She was also preceded in death by her brother Marvin. She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Debbie and Andrew (Puna) Horiuchi, Hillsboro; Robert and Maryann Enge, LaPine; Linda Herman, Hillsboro; 10 siblings, Eleanor VanderZanden, Marlene Helnbrecht, Norma Robinett, Joan Brooks, Everett VanderZanden, Linda Mobley, Sue Christensen, Herman Vanderzanden, Barbara Wyatt, and Leo VanderZanden; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, at St. Francis Church in Roy, followed by a reception. Memorial donations can be made to the American Lung Association.
