HELVETIA — Ronald John Francis Van Lom died Jan. 3. He was 77.

Mr. Van Lom was born Aug. 31, 1935 in Portland, to Adelhaide (Nussbaumer) and Francis Van Lom. He attended school at the Helvetia Grade School and finished his eighth grade year at St. Matthew School in Hillsboro. He attended Hillsboro Union High School, graduating in 1953. He earned bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and science at Portland State University. He served in the Navy during the Korean War, and married Mary Crevier in 1969 at St. Edward Church in North Plains. He worked for Leupold & Stevens, and also for Pacific Power and Light. In 1971, he and his brother-in-law started Power Master Inc.. which they ran together until 1993. He then started American Green LLC, which he operated until recently.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Mary; seven children and their spouses; Michael and Sandra Van Lom of Molalla; Heidi Van Lom, Helvetia; Ronald Van Lom, Bethany; David Van Lom, Richland, Wash.; Aaron and Irene Van Lom, Helvetia; Rachel Van Lom, Hillsboro; Adrian Van Lom, Helvetia; two siblings and their spouses, Milton and Cynthia Van Lom, Portland; Katherine and Pete Reimers, Hillsboro; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 10, at St. Edward Church in North Plains.  Rosary will precede Mass at 9:30 a.m. Memorial donations can be made to St. Francis of Assisi Grade School in Roy.
