Mayanna Manion died Sept. 25. She was 97.

Mrs. Manion was born Sept. 25, 1915, in Portland. She married Arthur John Manion in 1933. She graduated and received a teaching certificate from Mount Angel College in 1960 followed by a master's degree at the University of Portland. She worked as a teacher for many small schools in the Mid-Willamette Valley and Portland, including Crooked Finger School, Whiskey Hill School, Hubbard Elementary, North Marion, Lake Labish, Mount Angel and several Portland Catholic schools. She finished her career with the State of Oregon Work Incentive Program with the Employment Division.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; sons, Peter, Brian, John, Bernard; and sister, Virginia. She is survived by her children, Faith Ackerman, Mary O'Connor, Michael, Dennis, Leonard, Mark and Donald; 41 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 16, at St. Paul Church in Silverton. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. at St. Paul, Friday, March 15.
