Mary Edna McLaughlin died Jan. 29. She was 88.

Mrs. McLaughlin was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Pendleton to Edmond and Sarah Doherty. She lived in Pendleton during her school years and graduated from St. Anthony’s Academy.

In 1950, she married Frank McLaughlin in Pendleton and they moved to Portland. She worked at the Hollywood branch of the First National Bank until she had her first child, and then she was a homemaker.  They bought farms in Crooked Finger and Yamhill, and moved to Carleton in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003 and a son Timmy McLaughlin. She is survived by her children, Patty Fradet, Corvallis; Denny McLaughlin, Carlton; Sally Steele and Deanna Steele, Gaston; sister, Carole Streit, Washington; and brother, Edmond Doherty, Milton Freewater; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held at St. John Church in Yamhill.
