Marvin Ignatius Honl died March 29. He was 87.

Mr. Honl was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Fargo, N.D., to Ignatius and Ester (Johnson) Honl. He grew up on a farm with his parents and sister, Shirley. The family moved to Portland in 1941 to work in the shipyards. He joined the Merchant Marines and served during World War II. Marvin married Marlys (Molly) O'Malley in 1946, and together he and Molly raised their family in Portland. He worked for 33 years at Kraft Foods.

He was preceded in death by his wife Molly. He is survived by his six children, Gerald (Rosie), Forest (Kathy), Kim Safranski (Jim), Joey (Joan), Cal (Colleen) and Casey (Carolyn); sister, Shirley; brother-in-law, Larry Tomes; sister-in-law, Pat Keltgen; 22 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, April 5, at Holy Cross Church, preceded by recitation of the rosary at 10:30 a.m.
