Mark Vincent Spear died Feb. 3. He was 44.

Mr. Spear was born April 3, 1968, in Hermiston to Frank and Janice Spear. He grew up in Eugene and graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 1986. After graduation, he played football at the University of Oregon while completing a double major in political science and philosophy. After graduating, he worked for former U.S. Senator Gordon Smith and served as Sergeant-at-Arms at the Oregon State Legislature. Most recently he owned Mark Spear Entertainment.

He is survived by his parents, Frank and Janice, Eugene; brother, Todd (Kristin), Portland; sister, Heather (Rob), Germany; nieces and nephews; aunt; and cousins.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at St. Jude Church in Eugene.  Memorial donations can be made to the Churchill High School Athletic Scholarship Fund.
