Lawrence Joseph Jacobsen died July 13. He was 82.

Mr. Jacobsen was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Montana to Rich and Faye Jacobsen. He graduated from Chinook High School, spent four years in the Navy and then graduated from Pacific University with a bachelor’s degree in education. While at Pacific, he met and married his wife of 49 years, Patricia "Pat" Lockett Jacobsen, and they lived in Waldport where they began their teaching careers. They later moved to Beaverton, where he was employed by the Beaverton School District as a teacher, vice principal and administrator. He retired from Beaverton as the director of transportation and food services.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rich and Faye; and wife, Pat. He is survived by his brothers, Dick Jacobsen, Scottsdale, Ariz., Jim Jacobsen, Helena, Mont.; daughter, Debbi (Tillman) Stone, Hillsboro; son, Doug (Rhonda) Jacobsen; three granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at St. Cecilia Church in Beaverton, followed by a luncheon reception at the Beaverton Elks Lodge, 3500 S.W. 104th Ave., Beaverton. Memorial donations can be made to St. Cecilia Parish or to the Lawrence J. Jacobsen Scholarship Memorial at the Beaverton Elks Lodge.
