Keith Edward Bernards, a member of St. Mary Cathedral, died Aug. 9. He was 54.

Mr. Bernards was born Sept. 6, 1957, in McMinnville. He graduated from The Dalles High School in 1975 and received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University in 1981, as well as a master’s degree in business administration from Portland State University in 1994.

He began his engineering career at Willamette Industries in Albany, as a project engineer. He was hired by North Pacific Paper Corporation in 1985 and held several positions until 2009, including operations manager, financial analyst, capital projects manager, and engineering and capital manager. Most recently, he was a director at Communication Products Development Inc.

He is survived by four siblings, Frances Bernards, Salt Lake City; Ellen Mallon, Parkdale; Carl Bernards, Aloha; and Mary Bernards, Corvallis; and four nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at St. Mary Cathedral.
