BEND — John Lloyd Ruble, a member of St. Francis Church here, died Sept. 2. He was 89.

Mr. Ruble was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Portland. He graduated from Grant High School in 1941, and went on to University of Oregon. He served stateside during World War II, and returned to earn a bachelor’s degree in economics in 1947.

He married Dian Krieske in 1949, and they later divorced. In 1979, he married Miriam Stewart.

He was involved in the lumber industry for many years, serving as principal at several lumber brokerage firms before opening up his own business, Ruble Forest Products, Inc., in 1964. In 1986, he moved to Central Oregon, living in both Sunriver and Bend. During these years, he was a real estate broker. He retired in 1993.

He is survived by his wife Mimi, Bend; his sons, Steven Ruble, Bend, Craig Ruble (Mary), Portland, Jim Ruble (Brenda), Lake Oswego, Jeff Ruble, Sunriver; his daughters, Nancy D'Urso, Lake Oswego, and Lindsay Ruble, Bend; and nine grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Thomas More Church in Portland. Memorial donations can be made to the Hospice of Redmond or the American Cancer Society .
