John Brunengo died March 24. He was 89.

Mr. Brunengo was born July 18, 1922, in Portland. He attended Sellwood Grammar School, Benson Tech, Multnomah Junior College and Oregon State. He completed midshipman school at Columbia University and was commissioned an ensign in 1944.  He married Iris Lundstrom in 1951, and they lived in Eastmoreland. They moved to Happy Valley in 1962. After returning from military service, he went to work for Portland Gas & Coke and rose to regional manager for Owens Corning Fiberglas, before purchasing Pacific Insulation in 1968.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Lena Polli and Mary Gattuccio Pence. He is survived by wife, Iris; son, Matthew; daughters, Diane Dieni (Frank) and Victoria Cox (Alistair); and three grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 29, at St. Peter Church. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Peter Church St. Vincent de Paul.
