Jim Connell, a member of St. John Fisher Church, died Aug. 7. He was 80.

Mr. Connell was born Sept. 22, 1931, in Pendleton.  He attended the Madeleine and then went on to graduate from Central Catholic High School.  He joined the Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. After the war, he continued his education at the University of Portland and graduated with a degree in education and business.  In his working years, he built homes, ran his own restaurant and created a prepared foods business. His final career was sales manager at Taylor Electric Supply Company.

He is survived by his wife Ivonne, his children Chris (Pam), Vancouver, Wash., Michael (Andrea), Seattle, Dave Walmer, John (Hada), Portland, Deanna Rosebrook (Phillip), Wilsonville, Joe (Rachel), Portland and Julie Connell Hull (Ben), Bend; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Krell, Mary Leisinger, Patty Krell, Patty Connell and Cecilia De Fabio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. John Fisher Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Central Catholic High school or the University of Portland.
