James Paul Patrick Leahy died Dec. 21. He was 88.

Mr. Leahy was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Portland to James and Minnie Leahy. He grew up in Portland and attended Madeleine Elementary School and Grant High School. He attended University of Santa Clara, University of Texas at Austin and Oregon State University, earning a degree in engineering. He worked for Bonneville Power and was a naval officer during World War II and the Korean War. He later attended law school at Lewis and Clark, and became a deputy district attorney and then an administrative law judge for Worker's Compensation.

He married Glynn Echo Richkoff in 1975. She preceded him in death in 2010. He is survived by sister, Rosemary Richard; brother John (Maryanne) Leahy; daughter Ilene (Larry) Wells; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Birgitta Church.
