Gretchen Margaret Johnson died July 5. She was 94.

Mrs. Johnson was born June 11, 1919, in Whitefish, Mont., to Eugene and Hannah Vedrine. She graduated from Whitefish High School and Eastern Washington College with a degree in education. She married David Johnson in Seattle in 1944 and they settled in Portland. She taught third and fifth grades for 11 years at Holy Redeemer School.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry Vedrine and John Vedrine; and sister, Mary Jane Morgan. She is survived by her children, Sue Ann Johnson, Nancy Ellen Jodoin (Mike), David Lee Johnson (Kristin); two granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, July 27, at Holy Redeemer Church, followed by a reception at Colwood Golf Club, 7313 NE Columbia Blvd. Memorial donations can be made to Holy Redeemer School or the Oregon Humane Society.
