George Anthony Storm, a member of Ascension Parish in Southeast Portlan, died April 3. He was 98.

Mr. Storm was born Nov. 10, 1915 to Martin and Jovita Storm. He grew up on a 118 acre farm near Chest Springs, Pa., in a large Catholic family.

He married Gertrude McNamee in 1937. They had six children. Seven years after Gertrude's death at a young age, Storm married Isabelle Tabshy and had three more children with her.

His many jobs ranged from making barrels at the Western Cooperage, driving a truck for Carnation Dairy to operating the Jet Drain Service of Portland. After retiring, he devoted much of his time to volunteer activities at Ascension Catholic Church, the Carmelite Monastery and the Hoyt Arboretum.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude; daughter, Adeline; second wife, Isabelle; and son, Francis.

He is survived by his children, Marie McCauley (Ken Pellow), Sr. John Marie Storm, Anthony Storm (Andrea), Patrick Storm (Marie), Elizabeth Norman (Dave), Carol Villeneuve (Denis) and Michele Pesznecker (Dan); Francis's wife, Shirley; many, many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Ascension Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carmelite Monastery in Eugene or the Hoyt Arboretum in Portland.
