CORNELIUS — Francisco Castro Tavera, a member of St. Alexander Church, died April 19. He was 55.

Mr. Tavera was born July 22, 1956, in Sunnyside, Wash. He and his parents and their other children were migrant workers who traveled to and from Edinburg, Texas, to Oregon and Washington to live and work in many migrant camps to make a better life for themselves. While in Oregon they lived on Ron Tankersley migrant camp in North Plains. In 1963 the family moved just south of Hillsboro and in 1966 they purchased their family farm and settled in Gaston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Trinidad and Domitila Tavera; his brother-in-law, Kim Allen Weller; and a nephew. He is survived by his children, Wally Trinidad and Laura Tavera, Carlton, Angela (Angie) Tavera, Travis and Cassie Tavera, Gaston; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Esperanza (Hope) and Francisco Bermudez, Newberg; Guadalupe and Rosalinda Tavera, Forest Grove; Julian Tavera, Gaston; Anna Weller, Cornelius; Virginia and Mario Arguello, Forest Grove; Alicia Tavera and Ricardo Lopez, Forest Grove; Jose Trinidad Jr. and Beverly Tavera, Maria Isabel and Gilberto Arguello, Gaston; Martha Tavera and Carol Schmit, Gaston; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, St. Alexander Church in Cornelius.
