Frances (Van Hoomissen) Stockton died Dec. 10. She was 95.

Mrs. Stockton was born July 26, 1918, in Portland. She attended the Madeleine School. After receiving a degree in nursing from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Tacoma, she served as an RN in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She married William Nolan Stockton in 1942. She completed further studies at Oregon State University and the University of Utah, was trained as a Montessori teacher, and worked as a public health nurse, and director and nurse for head start.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill; son, Pete; brother, Redemptorist Father Frederick Thomas Van Hoomissen; and sisters, Mary Parker and Agnes Herrle. She is survived by her daughters, Linda and Marcia; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, George and Richard Van Hoomissen; sister, Annamarie McIllece; and many nieces and nephews.


A private Mass of Christian burial was followed by interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
