Eugene Blodgett Gambee died March 12. He was 81.

Mr. Gambee was born June 23, 1931, in Portland. A resident of Portland most of his life, he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1949. He served stateside as an Army military policeman during the Korean conflict. He graduated from Seattle University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and married Shirley Boitano in 1956. He began purchasing, restoring and reselling distressed properties in the early 1960s. In the 1970s, he began a career as a commercial real estate appraiser, and, in 1987, became an officer and director of Rogue Disposal and Recycling in Medford.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Mark, Peter and Stephen; and seven grandchildren. A rosary recitation at 12:30 p.m. will be followed by a 1 p.m. funeral Mass on Saturday, May 25, at Holy Rosary Church.
