Elizabeth Skach, a member of St. Francis Parish for 67 years, died Jan. 1. She was 83.

Mrs. Skach was born 83 Jan. 1, 1930, in South Whitley, Ind., to George Mills and Margaret Freiburger Mills. The family moved to Portland in 1946. She graduated from Washington High School in 1948 and worked for a year at the phone company. She married Bob Skach in 1949. She worked in Portland Public Schools' cafeterias for several years, and then as a foundry clerk at Precision Castparts from 1979 until her retirement in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob. She is survived by sisters, LaVerne LaRue, Columbia City, Ind. and Leora Lomnicki, Portland; brother, Dale Mills, Portland; children, Arthur Skach, Thomas Skach (Cathy), William Skach (Milly), Lorraine Skach (Christine Linder), Joseph Skach (Mary Ann) and Kenneth Skach-Mills (Daniel); 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at St. Francis Church. A rosary prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, also at St. Francis.
