HILLSBORO — Donald Milton Vanderzanden, a member of St. Matthew Parish here, died April 4 at Tuality Community Hospital. He was 68.

Mr. Vanderzanden was born May 29, 1945, in Portland. The twin son of seven children born to Francis and Hermina (Vandecoevering) Vanderzanden, he was raised on the family farm in Roy and received his education at St Francis Catholic Grade School and then attended Banks High School. He served in the Forest Grove Oregon National Guard.

Mr. Vanderzanden married Kathryn Tramp in 1968. Following their marriage, they made their home in Forest Grove until 1970 when they moved to Hillsboro.

He worked as a printer and die cutter for Western Craft in Beaverton. He was injured in a car accident in 1977 which left him unable to work. He is preceded in death by his parents and two siblings Bernice Rowley and a infant sister, Barbara.

He is survived by his wife Kathryn, three children and their spouses; Aaron Vanderzanden, Forest Grove, Jackie and Mike Bailey, Cornelius, Keith Vanderzanden, Hillsboro, four siblings; Ronald Vanderzanden, Newport, Frank Vanderzanden, Newberg, Lucille Bernards, Newberg, Dorothy Bernards, McMinnville and two grandchildren.

The family suggest donations in Don's name to St. Francis Catholic Cemetery.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro.
