Don Ford, a member of St. Jude Church in Eugene and Shepherd of the Valley Church in Central Point, died Dec. 29. He was 90.

Mr. Ford was born in 1922, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He spent 32 years in the military, enlisting in the Army in 1942, and then the Air Force, until his retirement in 1974. He married Lorraine Wilson in 1946 in Cedar Rapids. They moved to Eugene in 1974, and he worked for the State of Oregon before retiring in 1980. 

He received a bachelor’s degree in economics-education at COE College in Cedar Rapids in 1943 and a mater’s degree in education-psychology from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., in 1958. He earned a PhD in education-Latin American studies from St. Louis University in 1966. Finally, he completed a Post Doctorate Fellowship at the University of Oregon in Eugene in 1974.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine and his brother, Gene Ford. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Arlis) Ford, Hiawatha, Iowa; sister-in-law, Patty Ford, Seattle, Wash.; sister-in-law, Nadine Klima, Palm Harbor, Fla.; children, Dan (Yong), Seoul, South Korea; Chris Ford, Keller, Texas; Jim (Sandie), Ashland; Steve (Babs), Medford; and Leslie Sully (Henry), Columbia, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
