Marist Brother Anthony Iazzetti FMS, a member of the Marist Brothers of the Schools for 52 years, died on June 1 at St. Patrick’s Home in New York.  He was 71.

Born in New York City to Armando and Yolanda Iazzetti, Brother Anthony initially attended Mount St. Michael Academy but completed his high school years at the Marist Brothers’ Juniorate in Esopus and Cold Spring, N.Y.  He entered the Marist Brothers’ Novitiate, at Tyngsboro, Mass., in 1961.  He professed his first vows in 1963.  After completing his religious and academic studies at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, New York, he began his ministry.

He also had a master’s degree in physics from Seattle University and a master’s degree in school administration from the University of Notre Dame.  He received an Ed.D in Educational Administration from the University of San Francisco. 

He served in a number of places including as principal of Marist High School from 1971-’75. He retired to the Brother’s residence, Champagnat Hall in the Bronx, in 2005.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Chapel of Mount St. Michael Academy June 4, followed by burial at the Marist Brothers’ Cemetery in Esopus, New York.
