Ram players celebrate win at last year's state championships.
What a difference a year makes. The defending Oregon 6A state champion Central Catholic Rams graduated six seniors from last year’s championship team.

The young Rams have no seniors on the 2013-14 roster, and will need contributions from top to bottom if they want to make another serious run at the title. This year’s tryouts have exhibited a depth coach Sandy Dickerson hasn’t seen in her 15 years coaching.

The coaching staff is anticipating a balanced effort this season. Coach Dickerson, in her 15th season at the helm for the Rams, still has high expectations for the youthful Rams.

“We are young, athletic and enthusiastic,” “said Dickerson. “But they are all coachable and we expect to be a solid unit toward the end of the year.”

Expected to contribute immediately are the handful of varsity players returning from last season, including junior scoring guard, Amirah Abraham, and the slashing Kyra Logan.

Jarusha Paine, a 6’1 junior forward transfer will help the Rams interior scoring.
Agile sophomore, Zharia Hale, will lead the traditional tenacious Ram defense. Sophomore forwards Lucy Criswell, Sam Nizich and guard Alisha Henderson, who is recovering from a knee injury, are expected to step up for the youthful Rams.
