EUGENE — The top Catholic school finisher in last year’s 5A state title meet was JP Kiefer, then a Spartan junior. Kiefer’s time of 16:56 was good for 22nd place.
Sam Harwood, then a junior, and Michael Baird, then a sophomore, were 74th and 75th respectively with times of 18:34 and 18:46.

Garret Stollar, then a junior, crossed 77th at 18:56. Jackson Bedbury was 82nd at 19:21. The Marist boys took 11th in the 2012 state team competition and expect to finish even higher this year.  

The Marist girls, seventh at the state meet last year, lost two top runners to graduation.

But Anne Yates, a sophomore last year, ran a respectable 21:15, good for 48th in state. Danica Shepherd, then a junior, was 83rd at 23:41.
