Pope Benedict has accepted the resignation of Bishop Joseph Galante of Camden, N.J., and has named Auxiliary Bishop Dennis Sullivan of New York to succeed him.

Bishop Sullivan, 67, was named auxiliary bishop of New York in 2004. He was ordained to the priesthood in the archdiocese in 1971.
