The Archdiocesan Ministry Formation program will offer a Winter Study Week, Jan. 27 – 31. Classes will be presented at The Griffin Center next to Christ the King Parish in Milwaukie.  There will be seven week-long courses offered, plus three continuing education opportunities.

The Archdiocesan Ministry Formation Office offers a three-tiered program to assist and train lay ecclesial ministers. The Certificate Program presents an opportunity for a Basic Certificate and an Advanced Certificate. Continuing education courses are offered for any adult learner or lay minister. The Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry is a master’s degree earned through the University of Portland, and endorsed by the Archdiocese for advanced education. Morning courses in the Winter Study Week will meet from 9 a.m. to noon. 

Courses being offered are:

Liturgy and Sacraments (Basic 104) – Instructor Peggy Toole
New Testament (Basic 106) – Instructor Glenn Rymsza
Foundations of Catechesis (Advanced 210) – Instructor Rolando Moreno
Sacraments of Celebration (Advanced 306) – Instructor Sr. Jeremy Gallet

Afternoon courses will meet from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Courses being offered are:
Christology (Basic 103) – Instructor Todd Cooper
Church History (Basic 108) – Instructor Sr. Maureen Abbott
Pastoral Administration (Advanced 618) – Instructor Fr. Bill Moisant

Continuing Education opportunities scheduled are:
Archdiocesan Systems, Tuesday, 1 p.m.– 4 p.m., Instructor Msgr. Charles Lienert
Christian Leadership, Wednesday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Instructor Thomas Connolly, Jr.
Program Organization, Thursday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Instructor Cathy Shannon.

Registration is available online  Classes taken for credit in the Ministry Certificate programs are $60. Courses taken for audit are $40 each.  Continuing education classes are $20 each. Lodging is available at The Griffin Center $35 per night single/$25 per night double. Registration deadline is Jan. 17.  For more information contact Heather Wycoff [email protected], 503-652-7476.
