A pro-life group, with many members from Beaverton Catholic parishes, wrapped up a 40-day vigil March 22 at Planned Parenthood in Beaverton. Auxiliary Bishop Kenneth Steiner helped with a closing rite for what was called 40 Days for Life.

"We continue to be a strong witness for life in Beaverton," says Marie Barzen, an organizer from St. Cecilia Parish.

Barzen says vigil keepers have been busy conversing with people going in and out of the building, where abortions are performed. One protester helped comfort a woman who is now pregnant but regretting a past abortion. The woman and her husband were directed to Rachel's Vineyard, a retreat for people suffering after abortions, even years later.
