Kells Irish Pub in Portland has a bit o' leprechaun magic that allows money to stick to the ceiling. So patrons fling bills skyward through the year. As St. Patrick's Day has neared, pub workers squeegee the ceiling, causing green rain to fall for the past 17 years.

There are always a few excited children in wheelchairs on hand to witness; they're residents of the Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children. The center that houses profoundly disabled young people gets the money.

This year's event brought down $8,712. Pub owners Gerard and Lucille McAleese always match the rain, so a total of $17,424 has gone to the center. Over the years, more than $210,000 has been donated.
