EUGENE — PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend has been named one of the 97 best hospitals in the country for hip and knee replacements, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

PeaceHealth Sacred Heart RiverBend was the only facility in Oregon or Washington included in the 97 best hospitals list. To determine the rankings, investigators looked at the number of times patients were readmitted to the hospital within 30 days of discharge and how often patients suffered serious complications after surgery.

The PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Joint Replacement Center launched its “Back on Track” program in 2012 to promote wellness and an early return to mobility for joint replacement patients through physical rehabilitation, coaching and individual and group therapies immediately following the surgery. A goal of the program is to shorten patient hospital stays and recovery times with physical rehabilitation, coaching and individual and group therapies immediately following surgery.
