Marking National Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Catholic Charities workers visited area nightclubs to spread a message about human dignity. Catholic Charities staff joined nightclub employees at entry points to supply information on preventing and responding to sexual assault.

“It’s important for young people to be reminded of what is — and is not — considered consent of sexual advances,” said Natalie Arreola, coordinator of the project. “Especially in an environment where alcohol is involved, both men and women often need a reminder.”

Staff went to Andrea’s Cha Cha Club in Southeast Portland, Studio 503 on Southwest Beaverton Hillsdale Highway and Embers on Northwest Broadway.
