The Archdiocese of Portland’s Office of Communication has received a $1,500 Communication Grant from the National Catholic Society of Foresters. The grant will be used to develop a webcasting capability at the Pastoral Center. The webcasting will be used as part of evangelization efforts to extend educational programs, pastoral training and formation to distant areas of the archdiocese.

The National Catholic Society of Foresters was founded in 1891 as a fraternal life insurance organization serving Catholic families. The NCSF awards college scholarships, scholarships for occupational training, and grants for Catholic elementary and high school students as well as religious education grants. Among the several courts in this archdiocese are courts in Woodburn, Portland, Scio, and Sublimity.

In his letter of appreciation upon receiving the Communications Grant, Archbishop Sample noted the relationship that exists between the archdiocese and the National Catholic Society of Foresters and stated that “this grant will help support our evangelizing efforts.”
